Newcomers Reception
This gathering is designed to help newcomers learn a little more about our church in a short amount of time. In this 30-40 minute session, you will:
- Meet the pastors and their wives
- Hear about some of our primary values to include our emphasis on worship, relationships, and service
- Have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have
- Enjoy some good food in a relaxed atmosphere
Look for our Newcomers Reception on the 1st Sunday of every other month beginning approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of our morning service.
Vineyard 101
This class is for anyone considering making the Vineyard their “church home.” We meet for 3 sessions of about 1 ½ to 2 hours each (usually on 3 consecutive Monday nights). The opening session begins with a catered dinner with the church staff. Following introductions we watch a DVD presenting a short overview of the Vineyard movement – its past, present, and future. In the final two sessions we cover the bulk of the class material. This includes:
- Some additional background on the Vineyard movement and the history of our local church
- Why we exist as a church
- How we fulfill our purpose (and how you fit in!)
- How we’re organized
We typically offer the Vineyard 101 class twice per year – once in the spring and once in the fall
Alpha Course
The Alpha Course is an opportunity for people from all backgrounds, religions, and viewpoints to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The discussion will include questions such as the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more. Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith. Everyone is welcome.
Each meeting will begin with a meal, followed by a brief teaching, and then plenty of time for discussion. Anyone (and any question!) is welcome.
The Alpha Course will be hosted by Gordon and Brenda Toevs, 12022 Torrey Pine Court, Lake Ridge, 22192.
The course will meet on Thursday evenings beginning June 7th, at 7 pm.
For more information, contact Gordon and Brenda at 208-310-6744, or Trygve Gaalaas at 703-255-3497, or Wayne Greene at 703-580-9114.
Life Groups
Life Groups are small groups that meet here at the church as well as in homes during the week for a 12 week semester. They’re a place where we grow in our faith and learn together, a place where we develop new and lasting friendships. We believe that one of the best ways to grow in our faith is to “do life” together in community, in a casual and relaxed setting. This is where we share life experiences and apply God’s truth to our lives. It is where we hold each other accountable, build unity, develop healthy relationships and practice hospitality. It is also the practice ground where we learn to use our God-given gifts. We learn how to better support each other through difficult times and rejoice with each others’ successes. Our Life Groups are semester based, with a variety of topics to choose from. There are 3 semesters per year and each semester is 10-12 weeks long. They are relational and personal…and they’re fun! To read more about all of the Life Groups going on now, and to sign up for one, click here.
The focus for all groups this semester will be 40 days in the Word. All groups will meet in homes. Books are available through your Life Group leader. The cost is $11.
